Hi all

i have the 35mm 2.8 older version with the 34mm thread did canon make a hood to fit this lens.I have the other hood that fits the 40mm thread, 50 and 35.

I have been using mine without a hood getting good results so far. I also have a Kodak Series VI hood and adaptor ring to fit the push on 36mm outside diameter of the lens.
 
the round hood for the 50/1.8 is used on the 35mm f 2.8 lens.
you use the 36mm snap on adapter instead of the 42mm adapter that the 50/1.8 lens uses.
same hood for both lenses.
the hood is engraved to be used for both lenses.
 
I have been using the lens with a SOOGZ and 39mm filter and 12585 hood. Even the filter in the SOOGZ does vignette, that's why I have a 34-37 ring and a 37mm wide hood coming up. The original series VI ring and round hood are sooo big, I sold them.
 
it seems i need a 36mm snap on adaptor for my existing canon hood i cant see any chance of getting one of those but you never know
 
a Kodak or Tiffen or Ednalite 36mm series VI adapter will work with your Canon hood just as well too.
they are not too hard to find on the 'bay.
 
This is what i can find on the bay a (34mm push on to series vi6) a 36mm screw in to series vi6 but what i need or a least think i need is a 36mm push on to series vi 6 (40.5)as the hood fits the 42mm outer rim of the 50 1.8 and the retaining screw will tighten to 40.5.:bang:
 
you need a 36mm push on series VI or a 34mm screw in series VI adapter.
be patient, they do come up for sale on the bay.

Yes,
The Series VI hood will fit this lens but requires a Series VI 34mm adaptor ring. I have both the hood, adaptor and that lens.

check out 'bay item 7621742671, it might be the ticket if you are in a hurry. the price is right, but do your homework.

Hi impatients sometimes gets you what you want like a 34mm screw in adaptor from the bay for $7 this morning.And Gordon that was a great link lots of goodies there to tempt me.i would have gone for the hood if i had not got the adaptor this morning that hood was $10 cheaper than the one i bought.But thanks for you help and your quite right of course, i am impatient i get told quite often.:)

I have the same setup. My Tiffen ring says: 34 F 6 "633". My Canon Series VI hood says: CANON LENS 50mm f:1.8, 35mm f:2.8. I have the Canon Lens 35mm f:2.8 with infinity lock. Not the Serenar lens.

There's a guy on ebay with a lot of Series VI rings. A search for Series VI adapter will find him. I bought 34mm, 39mm & 43mm rings from him.
