Has anybody tried the cheap copies like this on ebay? Do they fit well? Or is it worth going for it and buying the proper one?

Just that it's gonna be on the lens only now and then and 50 quid is a wee bit steep.

cheers

Have a similar one for my old summicron and got a filter stuck today, but it might be me, mostly had problems with Nikon filters before not leica (iruv) .
Think I would have given the voigtlander one a try.

hmmm, if it sticks I'll give it a wide berth. Specially as I'll be taking it on & off quite a bit.

Thanks for the responses!

Maybe with some sort of lubricant? I sadly know nothing about this, but I was told that's what you're supposed to apply before screwing anything into anything else (especially camera related) that you want to unscrew at some later point in time.

The one you refer to will vignette on film. Try a heavystar, wide angle, non-window'ed hood (left), or the 43mm hood from cameraquest (right), like this:

I bought a screw in 43mm square hood on *bay that is for small recording cameras. it shows off a lot in the VF, but i might just cut through the plastic and make a window. it was less than 10 bucks. a good option might be one of those rubber foldable hoods you find for also less than $10 at the main camera shops. should do the trick!
