Hey folks,

I've got a weird thing going on with my 35mm Summaron. The RF has gone out of alignment vertically on my M3 and M6 but only with the Summaron.

The 2 other 50mm Cron's I have both are fine on the M3 and M6 but the summaron is out of alignment.

I'm guessing this means I should send the Summaron in for adjustment but I'm just curious if anyone else on here has ever seen/heard of this. I believe I'll send it to either Sherry Krauter or DAG unless I get it to that guy at Kindermann.

Cheers
Dave

Dave, check this thread on photo.net, particularly the posts by John Collier:

The back panel of the goggles attachment can be removed so that you can see how the adjustment mechanism works. There are three small black screws around the circular window that can be used to adjust both the vertical and horizontal alignment. All in all it is a bit tricky to get right, and can require some iterations to get bang on.

DAG quoted me US$35 for adjusting the alignment of the googles with RF. I would sent it to him.

Is the horizontal alignment at infinity okay? Sounds like the goggles may be out of alignment.

That would be it Richard.

It's strictly the vertical alignment on them.
I know it's not the M3 but it's the goggles :)

Thanks Alex :)

I think I must have jostled them in my camera bag on Friday when I was out. I'll take a look and if it's too fidgety I'll send them to DAG as Paul suggested :)

Thanks Paul :)

At least I have an idea of how much it will cost (which isn't much imho). :)

Hi Dave,

I think its a steal. In any case Don is one of the best not only in experience and expertise but lineage as well. His father was famous for designing the NY Leitz motor drives.

Thanks to that Pnet link and fiddling with the goggles a few times I was able to figure out exactly what needed to be done - it was, imho, an easy fix after I knew where I was headed :)

Thanks to all again for their help. :D
