4 New Voigtlander Lenses 35/1.7 Ultron, 15/4.5 Heliar, 40/2.8 Heliar, 10.5/.95 Nokton

Kind of a silly complaint, but I couldn't stand the focus ring on the newest 50 nokton, so that is a bit disappointing to see on the new 35. Though I'm sure optically it's great, but would it have been too hard to hypothetically put a focus tab on(disregarding the continued design style) which I do realize not everyone likes, but I am a huge fan of.

What it means the edges were corrected? Has the formula remained the same?

Not particularly thrilled by the idea of focusing through the adapter's helicoid. The Ultron and the 15 Heliar, on the other hand, sound interesting for the A7 series.

Why? Genuinely curious in case I'm missing something... seems like no big deal to me. It would be cool to see CV make a bunch of different lens heads that could be used on the adapter.

The 50/1.5 M mount has been hugely successful.

I guess it has no coupling to the Leica rangefinder mechanism, so focusing would need to be by live view only.

No, at the moment it fits only the Leica M to NEX close up adapter,
so it will only focus on NEX cameras.

OK, thanks. So I guess the 35 mm / F 2,5 Color Skopar Pancake II is about as small as you can get from Voigtlander in a ~normal focal length for now.

I'm definitely putting my hand up for the new 35 Ultron. Had the old LTM version but sold it when I bought a Hex 35/2 UC a few years ago. Always regretted it because my copy was stunning.

10.5/.95 Nokton M43 lens 13 elements, 10 groups 586 gram - this is the 4th and widest of Voigtlander's fast .95 M43 lenses. Equivalent of 21mm on full frame 35.

All of these were needed and will occupy special places in the Voigtlander lens lineup. I think all of these will be very popular.

The new generation of M lenses from VC is really impressive.
There is one thing that is, for me a major drawback: the min focus distance smaller than 0.7m
for leica M users, it really is a problem, at short distances, to know if you are in focus or the lens is disconnected from the camera.

IMHO Cosina should have allowed for a signal, maybe a bump, to mark the 0.7m distance, or to allow a small mechanism t lock the MFD at 0.7.
Or even to propose the lens in two versions: one for RF users with a 0.7m MFD, the other for live view users.

Ergonomics and no distance scale. While the VM-E close focus adapter is the smoothest of all the close focus M-E adapters I've tried, it is still not as good as a proper focus ring. Also, I use distance scales a lot.

The 15mm being optimized for digital cameras makes me wonder if this includes thicker sensor glass (as on Sony A7/r/s cameras) and not just Leicas. Same for the Ultron. The Zeiss Loxia Biogon seems to be quite ugly on the bokeh front (no surprise), so the Ultron is a curious proposition.

great to see Cosina continuosly develop new lenses for the M-Mount. But the need for digital compatibility (for example the "corner issues" with classic wideangles and the digital "sharpness religion" /even "extremism") comes at the cost of larges lenssizes. Thats putting the sense of Rangefindershooting obsolete for me, cause in the end you have slr-sized lenses on a rangefindercamera. Therefor the Viewfinderblockage is just one issue. The whole apperance leaves the realm of the small understated cameras, as I love them.

I hope the manufacturers will still stay with us classic (film-) rangefindershooters and continue to offer lenses like the 21/4.5 Biogon, The Voigtländer Skopars and the other small to mid-sized lenses, especially the symmetric wideangles that are so great to shoot on film.

The New 35/1.4zm, the CV35/1.7 rather huge, the new 15/4.5III surely will be (over 500g!! the first was 116g the second 156g!!).

The question is, do we really need better lenses for film? What is already available is plenty good and small enough. And chances for new finer grained films are slim.
Hence, optimization effort geared towards digital.

Yes you are right. Still a compact and affordable 35/2.0 lens (that is less "classic..." than the nokton) remains a whish, that could have been forefilled. But first of all I meant, that I hope they don´t discontinue those compact "analog" designs, for example: starting with the 15/4.5 II...
