Canon LTM 40mm help needed.....

hey all...i recently acquired the 35mm 1.8 canon LTM lens from kevin cameras (great dealer btw)...it's a great lens...good contrast...pretty flare resistent...sharp wide open...

anyway, the problem is that it has a very odd filter size of 40mm...no one seems to make any step-up rings/filters for that size...

does anyone have a hood/filter/step-up ring/suggestion to help me out?

i'd like to put a filter or hood of some sort to help protect the glass

Try googling Filter Find. He seems to have some 40mm filters whenever I check his listings.

and don't forget ebay. you can get series vi hoods generally for about 20 bucks or so.

so series iv will fit the 40mm? i never understood how the "series" series broke down in terms of diameter size....anyone care to elaborate?

that's series vi (6) russ.
there is a sticky about series filters that has some good info.

canon and others made hoods that with the proper adapter would fit 40mm sized lenses.
if you try ebay make sure it says to fit canon and what size it is. often people sell and don't know what the heck it fits.
walz and kenko also made series hoods to fit canon.

also, if you just want a non series hood cameraquest sells them in 40mm size for 30 bucks. they are metal, seem well made and fit nicely.
