Canada, eh.
Some say there are compatibility issues with an angular focussing cam, some say no problem, it was just propaganda. Does anyone here know for sure, first-hand? Quick reply appreciated!

Frank, I have the Summicron 40/2, which should be the same, and have no problems using it with M2 or M3.

Frank, I've used my Rokkor-M 40/2 on my M2. No problem what so ever. I do believe it was propaganda, and can you blame Leica?

Thanks guys. So I've agreed to a trade and will soon be getting a very nice compact (and by all accounts sharp and modern-looking) 40mm Rokkor CL (single coated, vs the multicoated CLE version), but then some folks pay extra for the single coated version of the C/V 40mm f1.4.

Wouldn't the 35mm framelines be closer than the 50 when using the 40mm lens? I guess it's better to include more on the negative and crop it out later than to exclude something important, but wouldn't most of our shots benefit from tighter framing? I won't do anything for a while until I get used to this setup, but there is a bit of filing to be done to have the lens bring up 35mm framelines, right?

The 35mm framelines are very close to the 40mm FoV. I can hardly see a difference between what I see through the RF and what I see on the "print".

You'll love the lens.

Now it's time to get a CL, Frank...! 😛
