40mm Summicron

I was fortunate to pick up a mint Wetzlar 40mm 'cron recently that had been attached to a CL that it was separated from. It is a little beauty and
I can see why folks have such high regard for this lens. I did not get a
hood with the lens and am wondering what I should do. Can anyone
give me advice and tell me where to get a compact hood ? I have a rigid screw in hood from a 50mm/2.8 that makes a tidy package,but will this block
any of the lens input or can it be used without difficulty ? Thanks

I have the original rubber hood, but I most often use a 39mm vented hood I found on eBay. The thread is wrong, but you can gently attach the hood about a half turn - it's quite secure.

Mine is tapered side and a little more streamlined than the common Heavystar hoods.

You're right - it is a great lens!

Thanks for all the great info...but can anyone tell me how much of a problem will have if I use the very small rigid screw-in 50/2.8 hood ?

Should work fine- I use a similar sized ring as a hood on my 40/2.0, with film or on the M8.
