has anyone compared the new Z 50 Sonnar with a second generation 50'lux? as much as i enjoy my 'lux, i prefer the look of the original sonnar for the Contax IIa but could not get use to the finder so I sold them... now wondering if I should sell the 'lux to get a new Z mount 50 sonnar... i can't justify two fast 50s (my other is a 50 elmar) ... overall I really enjoy the 'lux but find that wide open, close focus images are rendered with some vignetting ...

thoughts welcome...

'lux wide open and close focused...

'lux wide open but focus distance at 6-8 ft (no vignetting)...

I like vignetting on wide open low light shots as well. Have you tried Photoshop on it if you don't like it? I haven't used the tool yet.

Edit: I just looked at some of my wide open close photos with the lux (built-in hood), and I don't see too much vignetting. Did you crop your top photo? I don't see much in the upper right corner.

nope - don't recall cropping the first one.. the vignetting is only noticeable in low light and when focusing on subjects up close (second shot was also at f1.4 but at 6-8 ft away... would be interested in seeing some C Sonnar shots posted.. preferrably shot wide open and of closer subjects.. ideally people since i enjoy candid portraits etc...

If you're a gambling man, try the LTM Jupiter-3. Your odds of winning will be about the same as getting the C-Sonnar, only you need to pay way less: http://www.rangefinderforum.com/forums/showthread.php?p=501476#post501476 Otherwise you can't beat the price/performance ratio of the currrent Voigtlander 50 Nokton.

In that case you could also get the just-discontinued Bessa R2C while supplies last, plus another Contax-mount Sonnar.
