50 Lux ASPH quality in other lenses?

Ok. So for those that have shot the 28 cron and 24 lux. Which is your preference? Obviously the lux is much more expensive but for IQ.
 
The out-of-focus rendering here is distracting. A little stopped down would have been better, IMHO. To bad about an otherwise nice snap.

EDIT: I just had a closer look at the EXIF data of this photos and it says "Unbekannter tag: Tagnum = 0xa434 ===> Daten = Leica Summilux-M 35mm f/1.4 ASPH." and "tatsächliche Brennweite = 35/1 mm ===> 35 mm" so maybe some settings did not match here.

I don;t mind that bokeh because the child's eyes are so compelling. Only photo geeks look for distracting bokehs. ;)

Well ... the photographer / poster praised the "very well behaved bokeh" that I would not agree with. As I mentioned, otherwise a nice snap-shot. :)
 
It is NOT the lens, it is the head behind the camera that result in a good picture. Come on grew up do not act up like kids in the kindergarten.

Am I the only one reading this with the accent of Arnold Schwarzenegger? Anyways, I thought that was already covered in the beginning of this thread. I can't see what's wrong or childish with discussing lenses on a photography site. At an exhibition, no, but here, why not? Don't think anyone has claimed that certain lenses produce good pictures. They do render differently though...

While I made a point early on about the topic of lens 'magic' compared to photographers' 'skills' I think we should let the OP have his thread back without any more 'off-topic' discussion. There is no doubt the Lux 50 ASPH is the closest thing to 'magic' in the 35mm lenses lineup so lets respect the OP and end it.

Yes, the 'picture' is important, but this is a forum about 'rangefinders' first, photography second, which is why we're all here, right? ....lets get back on topic guys

I've yet to see an amazing photo that wouldn't have been an amazing photo but for the Leica lens or camera, or for that matter, a Canon or Nikon camera.
 
Not sure why the Planar 50 and Lux 50 asph are sort of compared, both are extremely nice, but different. The Planar renders color more intensely and has more pop. I have photos taken with it that look like one of those 3d cards and that can be quite unreal. 1.4 does make a difference to portraits. I don't think they are similar.

Not similar in rendering but both are the best 50mm lenses IMHO from experience. Bother are sharp wide open and both have gorgeous colors, but you're right, in many ways the Planar has a 3D kinda pop to it that makes it somewhat more outstanding than the Summilux ASPH.

I had the Planar and now have the Lux ASPH and find myself missing that pop in the Summilux, though the Lux is the smoothest rendering 50 ever made (almost boring in character) so it's hard to fault.
