The Tide Pools Just South of Iversen Cove - Fuji GSW690II - Reala 100

The Tide Pools Just South of Iversen Cove
Iversen Cove, Mendocino County, California

It was early afternoon on a very clear calm day.   The light was to bright for the slide film I usually shoot in this camera, but the Reala did well.

It is a rare day on the North coast when it is clear, sunny, still, and with calm seas.

This truck had just been washed plus the nice light compelled me to stop and take this photo.

The battery in my Pentax spot meter died, so I used my Olympus E-520 DLSR to meter the shot for my GSW690ii.

Daniel J. Winter's 997cc Ariel Square Four Mk II is one of 3828 produced between 1953 and 1958. He told me he bought it from a friends grandfather. My guess from the styling is this bike was customized in the early 1970s.

Kelly and Sheera - Fuji GSW690II - Reala 100

Kelly and Sheera

I met Kelly and her ten year old female Doberman Pinscher Sheera while I was out walking late one morning taking pictures. After talking with her a while I asked if I could take their picture and Kelly asked me to get her Spanish style house in the shot.

WOW! Dayrell, I like everything about this picture (composition, subjects, tonality, etc.), but I most dig the way the light is playing. A harsh critic would say "you've blown the highlights in her hair," and that's technically so, but I think it's beautiful and screams "happy gorgeous sunny morning with my very fluffy cat!" (Even if the cat is eyeing the girl maybe a bit warily, but it's a cat and they do that.)

What film was this, by the way?

Thanks very much dave , thats my granddaughter and our three leged cat , I think I was quite lucky with the focusing as the dot on the fuji is quite dim and of course wide open the depth of field is shalow.

Thanks dcb , I recently bought a canon 6d with a 24- 70 l series lense, so far its dificult to say if one is better than the other but the canon is much easier to use . The problem im having is that film gives me more kick.

Sory forgot to say its tmax 100 rodinal stand.

That figures. :) So many pictures that I like turn out to be stand-developed, and I don't know how to do it. I have never tried and have no confidence that it would work. I suppose I should just go shoot some test rolls and start experimenting, and if some results are horrid, oh well. It's probably cheaper entertainment than anything else, at $5ish per film, and if the Rodinal is used at 1:100, probably 5 cents per roll or something for the developer.
