Nick, I look upon the 75's as "long normals" rather than tele-photos. the 75f1.8 is indeed a very good lens. Even better than I anticipated. The f1.8 - f2.0 has a slightly lower contrast, but it is really sharp. I did some tests between the 75f2 Apo and the Heliar 75f1.8. yes, the Summicron is sharper at f2 - but not by much. It will focus down to 0.7 - but that is not really a problem for me. 1 meter is fine with a 75. It is rare that i go in that "deep" - and one can always back off those 20 cm (and save $3000!!!).

I do like the second one. Juuust enough background blur to make the girls pop out of the photo.

I think it's extraordinarily good, and is more than sharp enough wide open.
