75mm f/1.4 Summilux Photos

Nice to look at the pics from the 75mm though! :)

edit ... not to mention for what you pay for one of these 35mm wonders you can get a complete MF kit that could make their output look ordinary ... but not the speed I guess!

Quite Right....Oh Dear , now you're making my Head & Heart spin
again....I would need to buy new tanks, a scanner....arghhhhh...Probably NOT take that Route

I was looking at a Nikon F with a 50 mm 1.8 for just $429.00...
wondering that would have been Cooool...

My backup to my MP is a little FM2N with a Pancake 50/1.8. It is such an awesome little package and only ran me back about 200. The leica negatives aren't 10x (or 20x) better, but they cost that much more.

But there's something about the MP that makes it absolutely worth it.

Must Go SHOPPING with YOU Carl
you seem to Sniff out Good Deals
though I meant to say the 85mm 1.8 lens....

I paid a little over 1700 for mine, this was two or three years ago?

I guess that's one of the pluses about these premium pieces of glass ... they're unlikely to take a major step backwards in value and as long as Leica continues to make a full frame digital M mount body that shouldn't change!

Next time I'm on the east side ok?

I have gotten lucky with some purchases, but it is rounded out nicely with the 'doh buys filled with regret.
When I got my 75 I think I remember that being about the going price, 1500 to 2000. I have almost sold it a couple times, and would of made a decent profit, but it is just too nice a lens to let go.

Raid,

i look forward to seeing those! the lens is so gorgeous, i regret that i really haven't gotten to shoot it enough places to do it justice... Cairo will be perfect!

when are you going?

I spent last May there, and I may spend May 2011 there.
It would be great to take portraits of the people there.

I got my Lux for a lower than market price. Thank you Jim. I appreciate it.
Without such a reduction, I would not have been able to get such a lens.

yes, but a 75 becomes a 114 on the rd1...
it's still quite beautiful as long as you don't mind the lack of frame lines.

anyways, this was a test shot on the R-D1, closest focusing distance wide open, with a lens i didn't buy (too much $$$). luckily, i ended up with one just as good for a lot less (only now my Epson is front focusing something fierce  ).

^^ some lovely images Helen. Poor Soul is wonderful and the framing works so well. Youre showing the RD1 has some life, eh? Have been tempted to carry that lately instead of switching off lenses.

I am moving to using a 75/1.4 and 35/1.4 non-ASPH. They really are great lenses.

The 75 lux and 90 tele-elmarit are my long lenses, but have been moving to the 75 as my regular go-to lens above 50mm and not merely a specialty lens for low light, which was my original intention. As others have said, this glass does much more, something I'm starting to appreciate.

very nice shot.

i might pick up a cv 75 should one appear at a very good price but the lux is just out of my pay grade.

thank you.

a 75 really is fun on the R-D1, partly because you don't know what you're going to get :p

as my M8 is in service (finally located the sucker, lost in holiday hell), i will play some more with my 75 Lux and put the pics up if i get anything sweet... i need to figure out how to compensate for the front focus issue, though, so i'm not sure i'll be shooting it wide open. if i need the speed, well, i'll just wing it! (i unfortunately have no one to adjust the RF in my new country, and i know the lens is spot on.)

I bought a lot of my Leica gear during the credit crisis. I had sold all my energy stocks when oil first hit $135.00 a barrel, then closed my margin account, and then began buying Leica.

I paid $1850.00 at Adorama for a German version 2 (some call this a version 3) in excelent condition. It seems that version 1's are currently priced about $500.00 cheaper than version 2's and "version 3's" have a premium of a few hundred dollars over a version 2 (made in Canada). Perhaps today I could easily get 2.8K or 3K.

Yesterday KEH had a 75 Lux listed at either 2.2K or 2.3k, and I say it won't last long and perhaps it is already sold. It is infrequent that there are listed at B&H, Adorama and KEH, but Ebay has big inflated prices for prime examples for collectors at 4K-5k range. What surprised me the most about recent Ebay pricing is that so many dealers are expecting these prices. The recent jump in pricing I noted happened upon the release of the M9.

I say the rich with disposable income are pumping the prices.

Meanwhile if you want a cheap Nikon pro body, I'd go with the F3. Because of their durability, the market is flooded. You can buy them dirt cheap, even in excelent condition. I only own 3. Bought a F3 non HP with MD-4 motor drive for $185.00. Lots of manual focus glass available cheap. Almost like having a Nikon Pro camera as a disposible commodity. Like I said, "I own three."

alright i am feeling a tad tight under the Collar
My version 1 from 1979 w detachable Hood
75 Lux is Pristine & probably considered MINT
I paid 2395.00...ouch ...maybe TOO MUCH compared to what I hear from Y'all

Calzone: I was wondering why First version Lux which is Lighter in Weight and Same Optics would go for less $
does not make sense...no

LOVELY SHOT Cam ...You must have been ever sooo Close....Beautifully Sharp with a Creamy backdrop

KHAKI8: Cheers & Thank You for your Wonderful Comment

Cam - sorry, credited Helen w/ that RD1 shot - lovely!
Helen - I paid $2800 for Canadian V2, truly pristine. It's a lot, but not sorry about it.

The 75 is good for grabbing detail, such as Youxin fixing my M4's. I put three of these in a thread about his CLA's & repairs recently, here's one of them:

I shared a few from an evening at the Montreal Jazz fest. Here are a few more, taken 2-3 hours prior to those:

Love the irony in this one (and the clump of MUD on the sensor!!):

Quick snap walking by a stage:

I include this only to show the bokeh of the stage in the next shot (missed focus on the little P&S being held up).

Fantastic show, Monday evening near end of the Fest (slight crop on this one):
