Obviously, the lenses I put on my D700 dwarf the 75 lux, but I expect then again, the camera itself is much bigger.

A relative uses the 24-70 f2.8 on his D700 for weddings, and that thing weighs in at over 900 grams, nearly twice the 75mm summilux. But he also has the battery grip and flash on it, and that seems to help with the overall sense of balance.

Helen, I can also bring a ML-Grip to the Meet-Up. Just remember to bring your M-body. A grip makes a huge differance. THe ML-Grip is almost weightless BTW.

This would be my second choice if I didn't have a TA Rapidwinder and Rapidgrip.

My M6ttl is .58 ....ouch.... I know wrong Direction
but I have now moved on from my 21 & 35

strictly a 50mm Gal who might become addicted to the 75mm as well

Can Dag do something for my .58 dilemma
or is an M3 beckoning / .91

I had the opportunity to mount my 75 Lux on Damaso's M6 TTL with Rapidwinder at a NYC Meet-Up. The balance of the M-body is restored and the nose heavyness created by the 75 Lux's length goes away, even without a Rapidgrip the added 5/8 inch to the width of the M-body makes a signifigant contribution to comfort.

I would first recomend a Rapidwinder before a grip, but the ML grip is perfered over the M-Grip (which I also happen to own). Be aware that some early Rapidwinders do not have the necessary threaded hole to mount a Rapidgrip BTW.

I agree with you that a 75 Lux is a must have/keeper. Paired with a 35 Cron and you have a wonderful 2 lens long/short kit. I found that the focusing tab on my Cron falls more naturally, and the dagger/spike spreads my hands apart to provide a more secure attachment without compromising my ability to focus, when I wrap my pinky, or at times two fingers.

Although counterintuitive, I find carrying and using the Lux with Rapidwinder and Rapidgrip less fatiging despite the added weight when I carry this rig all day walks in NYC. The 75 Lux also feels more ergonimic on M8's and M9's with their thicker bodies. Perhaps this coresponds to the price drive upwards since the M9 release.

Now I get it; the 75mm lens shows up the 50mm lines in the M3! I did not know this fact. What does it show in the M6? What about the Hexar RF?
I used both cameras without even thinking about the shown frame. I got the images though. 😀

Damaso's M6 TTL was a 0.85 TTL and the Lux really liked his camera.

0.91 on a M3 is also wonderful, but no framelines.

At one point I was considering a M5 because of the bigger body; and, even though it also did not provide 75 frames, I was still considering the M5 because I observed the border I would have to mentally impose and subtract from the 50 frames matched the length and width of my rangefinder patch respectfully. Although not ideal, I thought I could do it.

With my 0.72 M6 the 1.40X Leica Magnifier my viewfinder is effectively 1.00.

You can easily use 50 framelines with the 75, just keep in mind to give some space around the subject in the 50 lines.

Your 0.85 is a great rig for 50's and the 75 Lux. If you get the opportunity to try a Leica 1.25 X magnifier-try it. I wish I wasn't so digitally inept because I post these Macro like photos I took of a rat I killed in a slaptrap in my backyard. Did you know rats have buck teeth? Title of the shot is "New York Still Life." The close focus combined with the magnification is a fun challenge.

The 75 frames within the 50 framelines sometimes causes me to take some inadvertant close shots, but frquently the confusion makes for some great shots with tight framing.

I have tried using .85x with 1.25x magnifier. It works pretty nicely.

I need good light to be able to see well enough to focus such a lens wide open and at minimum distance. A 1.25X or 1.4X is needed for me.

So my M6 has the 75mm lines. This explains the good framing that I got. The Hexar RF may also have it. The Bessa R has 75mm lines.

My eyes are sharp enough to focus the lens with reasonably good light.
The 0.85 helps a lot too.
I will try the M3 next.

Helen;before you "jump ship" on your M6 0.58x try a 1.25x viewfinder
converter. I just tried it with my 75/1.4 (built in hood) AND 35/1.2 Nokton
(regular hood) and they are usable with both lenses/ they take out the bottom right hand corner of the frame (more than 1/8th - less than a 1/4)
