I've finally had time to test my 7Artisans 50 1.1 on my M240.
Impressions - it has the 6 bit coding (supposedly for a Noctilux 1.0) but my camera does not pick it up.
It also sometimes - not all the time, has purple edging on the right side of the frame. By not all the time, I mean even using the same aperture. I'm sure there are ways of removing this in post, but putting it out there.
All the Leica 50mm profile lens coding options in LR that I have tried have not been great. I've removed barrel distortion manually and saved that as a profile.
Wide open - Leica glow! Which if this was a Leica that cost 5 times as much fanbois would be tripping over themselves saying how great it is. And of course vignetting, just like a $11,000 Noctilux .95
😉
Stopped down, sharp as any lens is sharp stopped down. I'm almost thinking this would be a better lens on film.
But, it's still pretty darn sweet given that this thing is in the $300 range, new!
No issues with fit on M240, M7, M5, M4-2, M3ss. On an M3ds really tight fit and the lens release button collar scratched the lens.
No this won't replace my Leica glass. Or my Zeiss. Or my Voigtlander etc etc. It's another lens for a certain look, and again, an amazing deal at the price point.

A selection of images from walking around with it today. Most at 1.1, a few stopped down :

These are really great.
If this was an f2 sonnar lens it would be a sweet deal.
Being sharp at f2 and still having 2 more stops of character available.... it's a real killer lens.

I had one "lost" in shipping and cancelled the sale.
Still on the fence about re-ordering as I have an ltm Canon f1.2/50mm that rarely get's mounted.
Trying to become more sensible in my old age 😱

Thanks Andy.
Right now I have it on my M7 w/ colour film to see how it does. Shouldn't have any issues w/ purple borders etc.

I found a leica cl today for an incredible price (350, working meter and a 50mm summicron dual range thrown in!) I'm now looking around for a few lenses. At first I was sure I'd buy the minolta 40mm f2 rokkor as my first lens but I've been reading a bit about these and was wondering if anyone has used one on a CL and if it seems like a good choice?

I've read a few things with people saying they needed to readjust the rangefinder with this lens, and seeing as this is my first leica that seems like a pretty daunting task for me.

The 7Artisans 50 1.1 partially block the rf window on my CLE, which makes it very very difficult to focus. I would not recommend it. Since your CL is the same size as a CLE, I'd assume it would do the same.
