What a great lens this is! Just got a new 2.8 Elmar chrome from B&H a little while ago. Very nice results, ultra smooth focus, beautiful results. Heavy, solid, perfect.

Reasonable price considering it's a Leica.

I suppose you mean either the 50/2.8 Elmar or the 90/2.8 Elmarit...

Not sure which one you meant, but I am curious about the ELmar😱

Wow!! what a score. I paid 10 times that for my new one. I've had that same luck once or twice on ebay as well. They spelled something wrong, but so did I on my search and ended up walking away with a sweetheart deal on a no reserve item, well below actual value.

Congrats on your score.

Hi John,

you paid a good price since you said you had the new version (46mm filter thread, right ?).

I am using a 1965 chrome Elmarit that is a great lens but can be had typically
around US 200-300.

Enjoy, yours is a phantastic lens.

Roland.

Hi Roland, yes it is the latest version, with 6 bit coding as well.
Thank you, I am enjoying it very much. I've gotten some really nice b&w shots of my daughter with it.

Hi John,

I peronally love the 90 Elmarit E46 11807 / 11808.
Unbelievably sharp !!!

The stength oh this lense, according to me is its little size and its balance
with the M camera. Wonderful for streetphotography.
One has no idea how close to the subject one can come with such a small lense.
Comparing to an SLR :<)
The 90 mm Apo Summicron offcourse is pleasant but I never needed the extra f.

Have lots of fun with your purchase.

An M Grip is offcourse a good alternative especially for the Chrome.

Kind Regards,

Eelco
