I am thinking of getting a 90mm lens for my M6. What are some good alternetives with spending tons of money? Maybe even a Russian lens would do. What are some suggestions?
I have an M-Hexanon for sale in the classifieds with perfect glass - it is a lovely lens, smaller than the Elmarit-M, has nice bokeh.
Shameless self promotion hehe.
Good luck, cheers,
Jim
Canadian Tele-Elmarti 90/2.8 is great. I got mine for $250 including a dedicated hood from an RFF member and working pretty well. It's small (this lens is a hood needer though), light and really good price point.
The 90mm f4 Elmar can be had for 100 bucks or less in great shape. I paid 75 bucks for mine, it was excellent plus condition except for some engraving.
Many to choose from. Range from vintage, uncoated 9cm F4 Elmars to the APO Lanthar mentioned above.
The 9cm f4 Elmar will deliver a vintage look. Low-contrast. I like it as it preserves shadow-details, such as under the sailors cap.
And the coated example shown here was $100.
As much as I love Russian lenses, I would not get a J-9 unless you are good at tinkering with lenses. A Nikkor 8.5cm F2 is a better choice for a fast lens.
