90mm Viewfinder

I recently bought a Voigt 90mm Lanthar from eBay. It's a beauty and perfect condition. The guy threw in a Voigt 90mm viewfinder for it as well. Thing is, I wasn't after the viewfinder, just the lens. I haven't even used it yet. So should I keep the finder? I was thinking of trying my hand at portraits and wasn't sure if it would come in handy. Do you use a finder for 90mm?

Oops, my bad. I have a Voigtlander Bessa R. It has 90 framelines.

Hi Chris, how do you find your CV 90mm in terms of construction? I am very tempted to get one. 🙂

i doubt you need it for use on the r, as it has the frameline for it.
if you don't have a need to sell it then you might keep it for possible use later on, with a camera that might not have the required frameline.
say for example, the canon p - no 85/90 framelines so if you wanted to use the 90 on it, you could either use the 100mm frameline in the vf or pop on your 90 finder.

I cannot recommend the 90 enough. What a great, sharp lens - it's limited indoors at 3.5, but's a tremendous performer outdoors.

Feels sturdy enough and balances nicely with the R2. I bought it as part of a package and intended to sell it off, but I fell in love with the damned thing.

As for the finder - I think I'd be tempted to sell it. You've already got the framelines.

That's a rather special finder, too: It's life-size, and it has an adjustable parallax control... You should get a good price for it. I got one of these to use the Tele-Emarit on my T.

Peter, the construction seems very good, all metal. It has the same paint and numeric markings as the Voigtlander lenses. It matches the camera beautifully. As Doug said, it has an adjustable parallax control ring on it. It's similar in operation to a focusing ring. Looking through it, I'd say it's somewhere between lifesize and 50mm telephoto view. Then of course it has the framelines inside. Here's a couple quick pictures.

If you still have it, I will buy from you
