A 1000 photos in Roma with the M

Hi,

A just want to share some photos and experience from photographing in The City; Roma. What a city, what great people 🙂! I really got to test my (almost) new M here.

I must say that the camera performed flawless, and I could not be more happy with handling and performance. On post I noticed the color saturation is really high, and I had to reduce in Lightrroom, but even then the colors seems quite "romantic" 😎. Others having the same experience, or just me not used to the "brick" colors of Roma?

I havent seen it, but will have a go. I did see this movie twice during the TIFF film festival in Norway, and really found it thought provoking:

I have been to Italy many times. Each time during the first hrs I find it a bit chaotic but also much more alive than Norway. When I get home Norway seems so much colder, distant and orderly. But I would not say that Norway is more civilized, in fact I consider Italy and the people in many ways more civilized due to the more mature culture and history. Roma is for me the mother of all European cities (but she had some pre-history coming from Grreece).

Hopefully I will soon be back in Roma 🙂

I really liked the first few images but beyond the shot of the girl sitting on the steps with her ice cream, they became quite boring from my point of view.

Thanks a lot for honest feedback. I honestly appreciate to learn how others react to photos.

Perhaps there are to many photos, but I really find these people iimages interesting. There is a second more important reason for me to publish photos: For many of these I left my contact details and url, so it would be impolite not to publish photos 😉.

The photos are great but the processing is a bit too much in a few of them.

Thanks for feedback, much apreciated. The post-processing is done almost on the fly a an ultrabook through LR 5.2, so some hasty processing. I prefer to lighten up the shadows quite a bit, and to tone down the highlights. Also the contrast is kept on a minimum to try to have a wide tonal range. I dont know if this is something you mean by "processing"? I would be happy to learn more about what I should do different 😱

some of the pictures have an overly saturated and overly sharpened faux HDR kind of look to them. Others look great though.

It was my first time visiting Rome this past month, and I must say that even a lifetime is not enough to "discover" all of Rome. I can't wait to sort through all the images I've captured. Here's one....

There are many very nice shots in your series. Love the colors and smooth tones throughout most of them.
The "look" does vary a bit, so maybe you could edit them into smaller sets, each set having similar postprocessing.
Also, think about editing out the ones that are not so great - by lumping the "good" ones in with the "really great"
ones you kind of dilute the set. It is hard to omit "good" shots, but such is life when you have "great" ones. It's your call.

I like your Roma pics, though certainly many have a similar look. Still, they are charming, display the atmosphere of the area... and show that you have an eye for the pretty ladies. 🙂
