My GF1 and 20/1.7 came on Thursday and makes a wonderful companion to my G1. I got a chance to walk a nearby nature trail yesterday and came home with a few pictures.

Lovely Ron.
I'm falling in love with the GF1 too and have posted a few pics on another thread http://www.rangefinderforum.com/forums/showthread.php?t=81201
Are all yours taken with the 20/1.7 if so you got a little close to that snake!).
You are the guy with the 25 year old M6 I recall? I love my M6 too and am thinking of taking the m6 and GF1 around as my main two cameras for shooting when travelling - GF1 with the 20 but also the adapter so I can use the M lenses on both.

Thanks Nick! All of the above were taken with the 20/1.7, and yes, I probably did get a bit too close to the snake, especially considering I didn't know what kind it was. I did know it wasn't a rattle snake. I suppose this is one occasion where the LCD is preferable to the eye-level viewfinder. I guess I'd rather get snake-bit on the hand than on the face.
I am the guy with the 1985 M6! I have the EVF coming for my GF1 and already have adapters for both Leica and Nikon lenses that I've been using with my G1.

That's an old Leica 35mm brightline finder.

nice autumn colors. its now best season for those here in North Europe as well.
brave man with that snake, or perhaps it was slow due to cold weather ?

Thanks! We have only one venomous snake in Michigan - the Eastern Massassauga Rattler, and I knew this wasn't one.
Here are a couple from yesterday ...

Eastern garter snake, a common critter in midwestern USA. Harmless to people, but efficient predator on small fish and frogs.

Absolutely! I wasn't certain at the time, but Googled Michigan snakes last night and confirmed that it was indeed an Eastern Garter.
It did open wide and hiss at me however.

That 20mm lens looks like a beauty. Any comments about the accuracy of the color rendition with this lens and camera combination?

The 20 really is quite amazing.
I haven't attempted to do any critical testing. All of the above shots were taken in RAW and converted in Adobe Camera Raw. To my eyes, the colors look good in both RAW and JPEG, but the RAW gives more to work with. I've read the criticisms of the GF1's JPEGs compared to those of the EP1 (which I do not have), but frankly haven't observed a problem.

Here are a couple low light shots taken with the 20/1.7 at 800 ISO. Both were shot in RAW and converted to B&W in ACR.

AWB is a little cool
AWB is a little cool
Hi I find the Auto White Balance a little cool. I also use RAW so no issues but on the Mac its not natively supported in Aperture so I used Silkypix to warm it up. As a simple conversion I used AWB in Silkypix and things are much more neutral.
I should get a colour card so I can verify my eye ...
Very happy with the camera and the 20mm lens - it is so easy to use.
I have even started to read the manual!
cheers.

I'll go out on a limb and say that the auto white balance on the GF1 is actually really crummy, unless you're in full sun or overcast conditions. It doesn't do too well with artificial light.

For all that, I'm getting some hella nice pics out of this little bugger.

Yea Me too

One of my First Photos.
I went for a walk in the forrest and snapped away.
What I appreciated was not needing to grovel on the floor to get this kind of composition.
This was with manual focus.
Just having fun.
another very close to the ground - no face in the mud.
My biggest problem is going too slow! at the time I don't recognise the slow shutter speed - its only in post processing I see the blur and then the exif confirms 1/10 or a second or slower.
this is a great camera - it can mount all kinds of legacy glass - manual of course - and the Panasonic stuff seems quite good too.
I'm even getting the hang on the Silkypics software !!!
good luck to anyone thinking of getting one.
