a little story about Canada Post and your goods

and I as well but in this case, they sounded like they were total tools. how can a package get lost overnight from Toronto to Ottawa, esp one that's supposed to be expedited? and to have lost it again is beyond the pale !

Hopefully by now you are en-route to the airport with a full set of travel documentation and your passport - but probably not. As you can't travel without the passport or visa you will have to wait I guess. With any luck there is some room between your travel-date and the first appointment, and with even more luck there is another seat available (which will need full payment as there was no possibility of travel-insurance). And with even, even more luck the documents aren't stolen and you get them delivered within a few more hours.

At this stage, it is all hoping and planning for flexibility in the next day or so. There is nothing to be gained personally from mega-stress now, but if your journalistic organisation has a legal department then the next step is obvious.

It sounds rather doubtful that the package can be lost twice, but malicious delay will be almost impossible to prove and liability is probably excluded in the small print anyway. Just one to write down to experience - I'm sure it's not the first time there have been documentation problems given your area of work 🙁

Good luck with planning around the problem, as it is a bit late to wish good luck for the delivery of the package.

EDIT: Phewwwwww, hope there's no traffic jam in the way!

I have to say, reading that this is still going on is giving me heart palpitations. Personally my experiences with Canada Post have been alright, but this will have me thinking twice. Hope it works out.

I'd be more concerned about the Security folks at Pearson right about now - there's an excessive slowdown (Work To Rule) going on - looks like people are taking for-ev-er to get through security. Good luck John.

Cheers,
Dave
