I'm new to this darkroom printing thing, I think I've become obsessed with it. Taylan a member here in Istanbul and his friends share rent on a space and created a nice darkroom. They invited me to be a part of it, Taylan showed me some basics gave me a key and that was the beginning.
It's an hour commute each way, I can get away two days a week at the most and spend up to four hours or more each session. My photography now is mostly during my commute to the darkroom.
I select my negatives from prior scans, ones I like and that others have commented on. I picked a negative recently that I like that I knew would be very difficult to print the way I wanted it, because I would learn a lot doing it. I worked on it during two different days in the darkroom, with beginner mistakes, lots of test strips, masks, dodging, and burning all on FB paper and finally have one print. And it's all worth it, my shot, I developed the film, printed it and once I get a mat cutter will mat and frame it. My process beginning to end. I can do it that way as a hobby, it keeps me active and learning new things that I enjoy learning.
Thank you shadowfox, I had been thinking about working a negative first with RC paper, then printing it on FB paper. I'll see how that works out.
