Interesting read.
My big problem (and I'm not necessarily talking about Reichmann here) is that a lot of the internet reviewers who claim to be 'experts', really aren't experts.
There is an awful lot of 'opinion' out there that is being presented as hard fact.
There are an awful lot of engineers, programmer and experts of the armchair variety making concrete claims, with the minimum amount of knowledge. A little knowledge is a dangerous thing.
There is an awful lot of testing being done, using methods that are unscientific and can't really support the data that is being presented. These unscientific and unprofessional evaluations are being offered as having the same level of credibility, as those based on scientific fact and testing. Hard facts are thus being replaced or challenged with personal ideology, 'gut level' analysis or testing conducted on an amateurish level.
The problem is that in the internet age these people can gain enough credibility (based on their popularity) with the manufacturers, that they are given a certain amount of input on the development of products.
