A thank you.

Stephanie, I used to think I got good printing done until I worked in a lab. I was the main printer on the minilab, and I had FUN. I set up bunches of custom channels just for my stuff. In fact, some of the prints I sent you were from the channel I set up expressly for Kodak IR. I could bang those things through with minimal corrections. I even had a channel specifically for people wjo accidentally bought slide film but needed prints. I just processed the film in C41, and I could get amazingly accurate color out of most Ektachrome.

Of course, these were older printers and their systems were easier to override. I don't know what the current stuff is like. But I'd sure like to have a session with a
Fuji Frontier.

The machine at the place in town is a Konica Minolta. I've heard good things about those machines, but having someone who doesn't know what they're doing run it is a bad idea. I'd really love to work there...I'll see what they say if I go in one of the days I'm off later this week.

Stephanie: I agree with Gene, it's great having you here and seeing everyone offer encouragement. I think the second job at the lab is a good idea, even if it's only a temporary thing. You'll gain great experience, and make for some happy customers. I worked in a commercial/pro lab and then at a 1 hour. The 1-hour gig was a lot of fun, and because I had the pro lab experience, I was really good at colour checking and could crank out very good work. My only problem was that when one of the pros figured out how good the work was, he'd bring stuff in and I'd even reprint it when it needed some tweaking. The boss didn't like that too much, so I learned about being "too nice"!

Anyway, I'm thrilled you're getting the scanner. I need one too, but I'm just as broke since I bought a HDTV. 🙄
