In the past I owned a used Klasse W - the viewfinder had some issues (the LED readout wasn't completely bright) but other than that it was an "ok" camera - I believe I just couldn't get my head around the 28mm field of view. I've gone through this before with 28mm lenses and even with the Ricoh GR - there's something about me and 28mm that just doesn't seem to jive.

About 2 weeks ago I got a hold of Jonmanjiro's Klasse S.

"This time..." I thought, "..maybe it will be different." After all, it's a 38mm vs 28mm and that was a lot closer to my favourite FOV of 35mm.

I just got my first roll back that I've run through the camera and I think I've found what I've been looking for in a film P&S camera. I was already familiar with the form factor but the focal length is what's doing it for me this time around. Nothing wrong with the Klasse W and it would be nice to wish for Fuji to make a Klasse SUPER W (I can dream can't I?) but for me, the Klasse S is where it's at. Sad that it's no longer being made and I hope this lasts me a long long time!!

Thanks guys - the camera is a real joy to use and totally easy to understand how to use it - although the market was only for Japan I'm sure Fuji could have done well with these around the world - and when you look at the way they went with their X series digital bodies (X-10,20,30 & X100, 100s, 100T) the styling was totally milked from these Klasse cameras.

Cheers,
Dave

I'm glad you've finally found your compact P&S cam, Dave. I actually went the other direction and got a Klasse W. So far I'm liking it a lot. The lens is way better than the one in GR1v IMO. Can't go wrong with either Klasse :)

Very nice work, Dave !

The Fuji Klasse camera reminds me of a fellow RFF member who once asked to get one for him in Tokyo and ship it over to his country. He photographed his entire wedding using this camera. :)

Nice Dave. I picked up a Yashica T3 Super for this purpose, but the Fuji Klasse cameras were on the list....I just couldn't find one.

Where did the thread "In Praise of the Fuji Klasse W" go? It was a great photo thread.

BTW Lovely photos of Toronto. I love the color!
