I've managed to take some shots of my G1 at last.

So this is how a used G1 can look.

It takes a couple of rolls to mark a presure plate.

Even titan gets polished by steel.

I stop babying my cameras after I get over the sorrow after the first scratches :)

That one was bought used via ebay, the (roughly translated) description was "shows some signs of use but in good working condition".

The picture showed it switched on and it arrived switched on and with depleted batteries. When I put new batteries in it wouldn't fire the shutter :-(

So I contacted the seller who admitted that he sold this camera for somebody else who bought it without a lens some two years prior and they didn't test it at all.

Luckily it only needed some use to come back to live and, again luckily, I have the external battery pack so I could use it with cheaper AA batteries until the shutter response was within tolerable regions and the AF didn't take ages to focus the lens.

I shot a Nikon F3 professionally for almost 20 years. The camera was beat all to pieces, The leather was coming off , major dents, scratches, etc----I mean this thing looked terrible, but it still functioned. I sold it on ebay last year under the header "Butt Ugly-But Works, the Ugliest Nikon F3 on Ebay". The damn thing sold for a little over 100.00. I was shocked.

Socke, I used to shoot a Contax G1- never did like the autofocus on it but I loved the lenses.

I still have a G1 I have had 3 of them over the last 2 yrs. The first one I killed on a trip. I dropped it several times climbing. ONe of the drops dented the corner so i couldnt switch the film speed, I was lucky it was stuck on DX. It still worked for the the rest of the trip. I then sold it on ebay for 160.00 I was surprised.
The one I have now has a ding in it but works like a charm. Great cameras it would be the ultimate if it was manual focus as well, and no the little dial for manual focus does not count.
