A lot of excitement about these, not surprisingly. However, impressive tho' they seem to be I'm not getting excited yet despite my 10 year wait for a digital camera system that does what I want......The A7 models are not 'it', at least not yet. At best these are yet more cost cutting from Sony...first they eliminated the moving mirror, and now the mirror entirely, and the price stays the same as a900 and everybody and their brother wants one!!........Good stunt Sony!

Had the FF model so long waited for been a scale up of NEX models then perhaps I would now be scraping my pennies together, although I doubt it because when all is said, these are still very pricey items and not without their flaws......

Worst of all, these are another 'Sony special'...ie, NOT made by a reputable camera maker but by a consumer electronics empire wit dubious reputation and history......a 'playstation with a lens' to be brutally frank, ...and, in a couple of years they will be worthless for resale if they still work! If they don't work they will be worthless anyway because Sony will adopt it's usual tactics and claim that the parts are so expensive that you should just go out and buy a new one!.......That was their stance with two camcorders I owned, so I'm pretty sure the A7, wonderful tho' it seems is a true 'disposable camera'

EDIT:...My NEX is the only Sony product in my house and will be the only one until something better comes along, then I can change back to a camera hopefully!

I would be interested to hear the counter claims and arguments!

Major Tom...you are entiltled to your opinion just as I am to mine ....

....But no, I'm certainly NOT a "troll"...these are legitimate and very important considerations to ALL modern photographers and enthusiasts. There is much nonsense being spouted about these cameras but they may be 'game changers' in a way not realised by many.....they are being compared to Leicas and Nikons but these have intrinsic value, unlike electonics. If camea makers feel forced to copy then things are going to be less good for everybody.

I'm frankly surprised about the vitriol the A7/r has inspired on this forum. This is yet another example. How many "sony a7/r sucks" threads do we need?

If you don't like it, don't buy it. RFF has taken a turn for the worse lately.

@Bugleone

You are not explaining anything in your criticism. You are just foaming at the mouth, and mostly about people's opinions of the Sony, not so much about the camera(s) themselves.
If you want to be taken seriously, slow down, calm down, and simply explain WTF you are talking about :eek: in terms of what you don't like about Sony cameras.

Personally I don't want an A7, but I can see why people are excited about it and frankly even if you hate it then it's still worth paying attention to as a fairly significant piece of progress in the camera industry. Like the others said, if you don't like it don't buy it, I don't see why people get so upset that a manufacturer has made something they don't like - I'd be much more worried if always made things I did like!

I wish Sony all the best with this since while this isn't the camera I want, I see it as a step towards one that I will.
