This is what I found out so far: It seems that software / firmware 2.0.0 kind of works with the A7R, using the latest firmware. I think it is probably not as smooth as with the II versions of the A7 bodies, but at least it works at the level of an autofocus adapter (FOTGA) that I got for my Canon EOS (EF / EF-S) zoom lens.

I wrote to Techart-PRO at http://techartpro.com/contact-us/ and hope they can tell whether the A7R will be (better) supported in future firmware versions.

Petition to release the source code of Techart firmware

Dear decision maker of the Techart Adapter team:

Can you please make the source code of the firmware available and (ideally also) provide links to development tools? It seems that firmware 2.0.0. also works with the older a7r version (not A7RII) but sometimes overexposure is a problem.

I would love to continue using the adapter with my trusty A7r. Maybe you could provide two firmware versions depending on body?

Community support and making firmware open source could help tremendously in this effort and overall provide a development boost that would go way beyond a company based effort.

Linux, and OSX and 3D-printing would be examples to consider.

The limitation is the camera body, not Techart.

Only the newer bodies have the technology to make the adapter work optimally.
