281 grams

Having seen neither in the flesh I am surprised how Sony have fitted a FF sensor into a body smaller than a m43 camera. Good for them.

Is sony getting rid pf that hump on top of the a7?...if tha happens i´ll buy one...poor leica x vario it looks like a death dive for it!

Someone on one of the Japanese rumor sites spotted a Sony patent for a Sony Nex style ff csc. Whether it becomes reality, who knows.

Used my Hexar AF and Holga over the Holliday weekend.
It's hard to get excited for sophistication when simplicity feels so good :p
Hey, it sounds great and I have both respect and empathy.

That's why I don't post in threads about which film cameras or techniques are best, asking why in heck they don't shoot digital. :)

Or explaining why I don't shoot film all that much, LOL

:)

I'm getting the A7 and A7R back in my hands for review next week. Other than the standard studio stuff, anything in particular that folks here want to see? I'll do my best to oblige, but I'm a little swamped at work right now.

Rangefinder lenses. All of them. Subject close/background medium. Subject medium background far. Subject far/infinityish... a planar field for the last so edges/corners can be judged for undue smearing. Full f/stops down to at least f/11.

On each camera plus a M9 and M240 if at all possible, all subjects. Put the unwashed masses out of their/our/my misery so we can see which optics are worth pursuing on these new bodies and how much their rendering matches what we come to expect on the M9 and M240. Your name will be sung by the heralds throughout the ages in payment.

ok, that's a tall order. Just take some nice shots and let us know how it goes. ;)

This one.

Realistically, have some fun.

Hah! I'll definitely run Imatest with some RF lenses down to f/11 and see how test chart sharpness compares with the 7/7R/M240. That's easy. Numbers aren't the do-all/be-all, but they give a quick indication of expected real-world performance.

I'm working on getting some real world samples up from my week in the field with the cameras, jimfisher.smugmug.com has a couple galleries already and I had written a more experiential piece (http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,2426753,00.asp) with some samples previously.

Will have to see how much time I can devote this go-round. This sounds like a humblebrag complaint, but I've got the Pentax K-3 and full set of DA Limited lenses, Nikon D610 and AW1, and the Olympus Stylus 1 on hand too, and am trying to get reviews out ahead of the height of holiday shopping. Some long hours coming up!

That aw1 sounds interesting. Love to hear your thoughts on it. Lots of cameras to review... There are times I think I would love your job, but then I think it would just tire u out after a while and u wouldn't enjoy it anymore.

Thanks
Gary
