A7r with RF glass

Thread I believe is now fully edited.

Please embed only with express permission of shooter and keep track of that 🙂

I just use flickr mail. They all are thrilled--so far. I've had one or two not reply, and I had one on another forum request their shot be a link. That one was never here.

I maintain a complete list of permission available to mods at anytime 🙂

enjoy,

Charlie

Appreciate the honestly and hard work given to you and others for contributing to this thread, it's one I keep coming back to and check to see what's what on these great new cameras.

It appears the 21/1.8 and the Zeiss 35/2 both work, earlier many people feared they wouldn't.

Hi Charlie,

Just want to thank you for putting this thread together - I'll be basing my decision to get the A7 or A7r on this thread. Keep the pictures going!

I think the 21lux is going to be the main lens I want to use on a FF NEX...hoping to see some soon.

I've seen the 21 LUX: it's good 🙂 On both A7 and A7r

Any edge smearing wide open? It seems that the falloff on the A7 is about a stop more from Ron's early test compared to the M9...don't know if it's because of the foggy weather in the shots or something caused by the sensor.

I'm tempted by the A7r output, but the electronic front curtain is a big plus for some one who shoots stage performances - used to hate the lag and double click of the NEX-3.

This guy has one, and a bunch of other great glass, just asked for permission to link, but you should be able to find some shots in there

So what's the verdict on the A7 vs. A7r with traditionally difficult RF lenses?

In other news, I saw a link of picture of the Zeiss 21/4.5 on an A7r. Trainwreck. It's a shame, one of my favorite lenses. So far it only seems to work well on the Monochrom. I wish Sony would do a Monochrom A7...

So much information...... after reading through as much of this thread as I could find the time for, it seems any lens shorter than 50mm is on a case by case basis. If there is some sort of summary I'd love to know what that might be as I am also considering one of these cameras.

I've set the camera to B&W, focus peaking on high and yellow which makes it rather easy to focus with fast lenses like the CV 35/1.2 or Nikkor 50/1.2, I would say it's easier than with my old D800E.

Close focus with the CV 15 it's a lot more difficult because focus peaking will light up almost everything, but for stationery objects one can zoom in with the C1 button, two clicks will give 7.2x zoom and another click will give 14.4x zoom.

That's a great tip on the b&w and fp colors. Now if only my camera would show up...

Lots of 35s good but not all.

28 and under very picky. M-rokkor 28 good and I suspect elmarit v3 also.

CV 21/1.8 excellent.

I think zm18 will be OK. We'll see.

I think the trick is, if you have the lens, try it, shoot it. But be very careful if you buy a lens for the camera.

the native zeiss 35 is tiny light and superb: 800USD. The native 55 is even better.

Just got my Kiwi Contax G to NEX adapter delivered, so here's a couple gear snapshots with the iPhone 5 and the Hipstamatic app.

This lens looks to be amazingly sharp from corner to corner at f/4 without too much drama on the a7R.

Carl Zeiss 2/45 Planar on a7R @ f2, ISO100, near close focus, ooc JPG.

As said, shoots very clean on the a7R, I like the small amount of vignetting wide-open but it's as good as gone at f4 if so desired.

And the final shot, a rather symbolic image of what the a7R is doing to my Nikon world (ooc JPG, DX crop)

from the entirety of this thread i personally am finding the overall look of the a7 decidedly preferrable to the higher priced higher mp'd R. anyone else feeling similarly?
