While cleaning the viewfinder of my Minolta Himatic 7s2 (7SII) i accidentally closed the film door. And isnce the rewind knob is off, i cannot unlock the door.

I read that trying to pry it with a paperclip hook might solve it, but no luck yet. How do i really do that ?

Would it also work if you remove the bottom plate ? If so, how ?

Look at the rewind knob to see how and where it would unlock the mechanism and bend a paperclip or stiff metal wire to an appropriate shape.

I assume you have the top plate off hence why the rewind knob is off. I also assume you've removed the rewind shaft otherwise you could reattach the knob. I'm pretty sure the top of the door catch lever is visible if you have the top plate off. You just need to pull up on it to open the back. I can't find a picture at present. Post one of yours of the area around the rewind if you can't work out what to pull on.

A dental pick is often handy for such things. I get mine from an electronic supply house. Electronics techs use them, too. You can get one with a strong right-angle tip.

That's why I always wrap a piece of card around the door edge and secure it with tape. Saves the trouble of having to fish for the release.

it was a twist of the mind. since i had the knob turned off, it seemed everything camer out, but with the top plate on, i was thinking... this is how it is designed so turning the knob back on, was the solution as that is how you open the door in the first place 🙂.

The tip to cover the door with some tape when repairing i keep in mind
