I have a feeling that oil prices will not fall below $100 a barrel for a long time. I doubt it that the USA will allow the oil prices to be switched from US$ to EUROS since wars have been started for such possibilities. The US economy would completely collapse if oil producing countries would switch to EUROS for pricing oil. It has to do with the countries currently holding large reserves in US$ who may sell the US $, which in turn will affect the US economy in a negative way. Iraq was the first to advocate a switch from the US$. Look what it got them. Time will tell.

Raid gets it. That's one big reason Saddam got spanked.

Just wait until someone nukes Natanz, Iran. Oil will hit $400/barrel long before it ever hits $50/barrel again.

I must be getting old. If this is the end of the world I'm ready. My first mortgage was 16% , inflation was double digits and unemployment nationally was around 15%. We haven't even officially met the definition of a recession yet. Leica has always, and I mean always, been ridiculously overpriced. As soon as a democrat gets elected everything will be rosy again.

Mortgage meldown, high unemployment rates, crude $150 barrel, weak dollar, trillion dollar trade deficit, multi-trillion dollar national debt.
Are you waiting for an engraved invitation? The American economic state is in tatters, sir.

We're not in a recession yet, and the economy has been worse.
Have faith, Barry will fix everthing in his first 100 days in office...

Who is "Barry", Al? I must be missing something here. Senator Obama is chosen to be the next US President. No clue why, but it is a fact.

I doubt we will ever see $50 a barrel oil again for a number of reasons, much as I'd like to see it back at that price...

I call Senator Obama "Barry". It's part of a phrase I picked up in an email someone sent to me about Sentor Obama. It's a song to be sung to the tune of "Puff the Magic Dragon"...

He went by Barry as a young man before college, according to this. I think it was a good move.

This is the way they'd like you to think. A fundamental misconception. This is NOT like before.

Who "chose" him? The Illuminatus, the Skull and Bones, the Reptile Overlords, the Rothchilds?
Which secret organization do you feel is behind all this?

It is VERY VERY different this time. Do not keep too much of your assets in any one institution, stay liquid, get out of debt, accumulate gold, and have some gold/silver coins available to use as currency should the need arises. I hope I'm crazy and this does not come to pass, but there is no downside to being prepared...

pphuang, I like your photo of the shoe guy. That's the guy who fixes shoes near the park in Manhattan Chinatown.
He just put new heels on my wife's boots for $5.

I wonder how many people actually buy Leica gear new anyway. Not me.
The drop in the US dollar has affected nearly everything else, so I can see it affecting photography. Permanent war (or unlawful invasions) waged by the greatest idiot on the planet is expensive. A regime change will help, but there has been so much damage done it may only mitigate the problems. This congress is no great shakes either, no matter who is president. The blind leading the blind.
It will be interesting to see if the Russian gear starts to become more popular, and more expensive.

Thanks! He seems to be getting busier, and I've seem some other shoe repairmen pop up as well. Nice to see these craftsmen thrive in our "throw-away" economy, but probably just another sign of the times at a very basic level...

The "Walmarts of Photography" will be most popular. Russian lenses and used Leica lenses will go up in price.

Do I need to quote the idiot who pronounces nuclear in that way. Yes, Leica lens prices have gone nuclear and force us to Voigtlander, Zeiss, and other makes. Notice how oil went up too. All because of the @#$^(&#&$ WAR!!!! That Idiot and the Idiot Democrats (I am/was a Democrat, and am Jewish) are doing nothing to stop the next war which will involve an Israeli first strike on the "NUKEAULAR" sites in Iran. We will get sucked in, then Russia, China, etc,,,, WW3. Oil, $300 a barrel an up! Lens prices, ha, ha, ha!!!
$5000 Summicrons!!!!
The Dollar, worthless!!!! Maybe a $5000 Summicron bartered for a loaf of bread after the war starts!!!!!!
