Congratulations! Now stick some glass on it, stuff some film inside of it, and head on out into the world. You have a lot of work ahead of you before the edges finally start to get brassed and you've picked up a few minor dings and a dent or two. Until then everbody will think that you're a fondler 🙂

I think I'll stick the 21/3.4 Super-Angulon on the late 1950's button rewind M2 and see if I can get some more brassing between the dents. When I loaded it I noticed that I'd put a sticker inside the base plate dated 1979. I guess that's when I had the synch contacts updated to M4 style. Ain't been in the shop since. If only that camera could talk! It sure has a lot of stories it could tell. Your 22 year old M6 is a mere kid! Go show it some adventures.

why would you use an m6 instead of an m3, if you don't take advantage of the meter (by not using batteries)?

Thanks guys. I'm getting a little steadier slowly, so I think tomorrow the 1/125 should supply enough steadyness for the first roll.

I've been shooting long enough with my M2, M3, M4 to guestimate the light level approximately, but I want those batteries to learn the difference 😉

Pherdinand, I got it from the bay for €775. I bid in the last 10 sec. A German seller offered it in good condition. That really was an understatement. The camera came in the original box and it is truly in mint+, NIB condition. As far as I can tell it has not been used. The camerastrap was still folded up in its original carton. As far as I can see everything works as it should be, smooth as my recently CLA'd M4. Its steel gears in no way less smooth than the brass ones of my M2 and M3. Just one short moment I thought of selling it to a real collector and get a used one that I don't have to be afraid of to dent and brass it, but I decided I'm going to put the dents and dings in myself. This camera begs to be used!

Good call, Huub. There's plenty of time to have the Leicas sit around on shelves when we've gotten old and there is no film available any more to load them with. Until then, each Leica deserves to be put to use for what it's made for!
