Well, I spoke on the phone with them today and was planning on going tomorrow, but they seemed not to mind if it takes a bit longer.

Sounds like it might be quite a bargain now! From the description of how nice it feels to use and how nice it looks, maybe the OP should grab it and run!

Repainted original top plate. Undercoated first, edges rubbed and then painted.

I got confirmation that it indeed has a repainted top and not just a repair spot.
I actually could return the camera. Saw the price drop as well now and I am thinking about getting it or not.
Originally it was priced as a non-repaint, or should I say a non-repaint with a "repair job". For this price I would have overpaid I think, now...well I don't know.
It's still not cheap.... but yes, as a user camera, not caring about if it's repainted or not, it would be really nice!
I do currently have a BP MP, which I want to sell before getting an M4 though (turns out light meters confuse me more than help)

Is it a repaint of a black chrome or chrome ?
If its cheap enough you may be able to get it back to the black chrome.

well, that's the question for the ages 😀
The serial number indicates it is, or has been originally, a black paint camera. What the undercoat of the top is, is still a mystery to me. For that one might have to remove the paint completely.
