I'll send ya a Crown Larger to try, made by the same company that makes Fosters but is their premium beer. Fosters we dont see commonly see in the "bottle O" (as we call the shops that sell booze) as much nowadays (in Sth Oz anyway). mostly its for the expot market it appears, and over priced acoridingly!. 25 odd years ago the people in each Aussie state would pretty much stick to drinking what beer was produced in thier own state. Fosters is a Victorian beer but i spent a lot of time in Vic and aquired a taste for it as it used to be the main one drank domestically in Vic, so when i came back to Sth Oz i would drink the Fosters, but around that time Paul Hogan (crocodile dundee, we call him Hoges) started doing adverts overseas for the fosters brand and it took off as an export beer, the same company makes a few other beers that are much the same as fosters so they are the ones we drink domestically now.
still for the sake of the argument i would still say the Elmar is a 4 element Tessar type lens, thats what it was designed as and has sold probably 100's of thousands as such, it was only that one 90/f4 made as a 3 element and then only in its final years and only around 1675 or so of them made. i suppose Leitz didnt know what to call it (not having any other 3 element lenses) and it appears they may have been trying to save a dollar?! and changed the standard 90 elmar to the 3 element. who knows why they did it but they aparently didnt advertise the change in the lens much.
