When I got this camera, it had one of the worse cases of decomposed batteries I had seen in a while. But surprisingly, it was fairly easy to clean up. I haven't taken it out for a test run yet because with the temps dropping through the bottom, I'm pretty sure the batteries wouldn't hold up too well.

Though it takes two AA cells, their only function is to power the motor drive. Metering is done with a selenium cell that gives a Red=No, Green=Yes signal in the finder. The camera will still fire no matter how far out you are on the exposure setting. Shutter and aperture can both be set manually, with an Auto Aperture mode. At least I think it's Shutter Priority. The manual is a little foggy on just what the A does.

Shutter speeds are limited from 1/30 to 1/500 in a Compur shutter (plus B), but unless you want to turn the camera upside down when you set them, you have to go by a color coded icon group on top of the lens housing. Apertures have a normal read-out, but one of the worst control rings I've ever used.

The drive sounds like a really old electric drill, but you can get continuous exposures simply by holding down the shutter release lever. Instead of frames-per-second, it's more like seconds-per-frame.

It has a Solinar-R 2.8/45, which was the only reason I bought the camera, and a parallax corrected combined range/viewfinder. It's a beast too, larger than my 120 folders. Luckily it came with an ERC, as it doesn't have strap lugs.

But it sure is pretty. One of the best exterior condition cameras I've gotten lately. It takes an odd size filter (35mm), but I happen to have a Walz hood that fits it.

Hope it doesn't scare anyone when I shoot it.

Looks great! I was just looking through some of your sets of repair photos on Flickr. Impressive. I was particularly interested in the Agfa Karat CLA...I have an Ansco Karomat that need some help.

Oh yeah, that Karat was a joy to work on! One of those cameras where the previous owner figured the more grease, the better. I've got another with the Rodenstock lens to fix up when I get the time.

I hope that isn't sarcasm...I was hoping to use your photos as a guide to get that little camera working again. I haven't had the time lately to give it a go.
