Edinburgh have them and won’t hand check - total painA quick update: Birmingham airport is now using the new CT scanners. I spoke with a security staff and said that they can damage film so we need to have them ready in a plastic bag and request hand check. He swiped them and gave them back to me.

The Edinburgh Airport website has this to say about traveling with film: "Please speak to a member of staff in the security hall and let them know you're travelling with camera film in your hand luggage. They'll be able to give you advice and let you know the best process to follow for the lane you are going through."Edinburgh have them and won’t hand check - total pain

Tried that previously at the start of the year and was told anything 800 and below was safe to go through the new scanner - not going to argue with them as I want to get on my holiday 😂The Edinburgh Airport website has this to say about traveling with film: "Please speak to a member of staff in the security hall and let them know you're travelling with camera film in your hand luggage. Not very helpful. In the last three months I've gone through five major airports and staff were happy to hand check my film. They say anything 800 and below is safe to go through

Debating with airport staff and possibly missing my flight I gave up back in 2009, when I last flew across the Atlantic with Kodachrome in my hand luggage.

Perhaps on one pass. Perhaps! But the effect of multiple passes is cumulative. They say anything 800 and below is safe to go through

When you say ordinary scanner do you mean the older, non-CT ones?three times through an ordinary scanner.
See my post #14 - with old scanners I had up to 5 passes with no ill effect on my 35mm HP5.

I have had no problems with the old non ct-scanners, but those new ct-scanners are bad for film.

Knoxville, Tenn is all CT scanners. Had TSA handcheck it and even handcheck the Leica IIIC with film still loaded on it. TSA guy was cool about it and asked about the year of it (1946)

In one European airport I recently asked to hand check my film (they had the new CT scanner). The security lady took the film and then asked - where are your cameras, what about the film in cameras? - Oh, don’t worry, the cameras are with no film (I usually load when I pass the security). I was so pleasantly surprised.

Has anyone flown out of Munich airport recently? I'll be doing that in October. There is this site EUROPEAN AIRPORTS — Handcheckfilm that says it's a bit touch-and-go as to whether they will handcheck your film. Mind you I don't know how reliable the site is or how often its data points are updated.

Yes...I flew out of both Munich & Frankfurt last fall and had very friendly interactions at security and had no problems getting my film hand-inspected.Has anyone flown out of Munich airport recently?
