A very nice eulogy, by Al's son Jonathan, has been posted on The Price of Silver:

I never had the pleasure of meeting Al, but had read his posts for many years. I 'll miss his wit and insights. He was quite obviously a very kind and caring person.

I enjouyed Al's commentaries on PN and the Leica Forum. Was surprised when PN banned him. Al was the RF photographer's photographer. He was also an icon. He looked the part he played and his photos were great. Al left is mark! My heartfelt condolences to his family.

Sad, bye Al.
I've known Al only through his posts, but came to value his words.
He will be missed.

Al's obituary in the Miami Herald can be found here: http://www.miamiherald.com/news/obituaries/story/1418679.html
They never did use the portrait I sent them for it. I haven't seen the print edition. I guess my shot didn't look like a "gadfly." Odd obit, obviously done mostly from the internet.

All my condolences to the family and friends. I only know Al through Rangefiderforum and Photo.net. I always read his opinions avidly. It's very sad. Rest in peace.

Remembering Al today. Two years on and I still miss his wit and wisdom and I still dip in to his Blog.

I really miss Al. I just found an old thread where we were discussing photographing rock concerts. He liked my work, and of course, I thought his stuff was cool, too.
I didn't know him real well, but he was a Friend.

Yes, he was a friend. He developed B&W rolls for me.

I came to this community after he'd passed. I've read a lot about him but haven't read too much buy him.
Does anyone have links to some of his thoughts or work I should check out? It sounds like he has quite a bit out there but I'd just be stumbling around blindly looking for some - not the most efficient way to get a sense of the man.
