I hate the rubber hood that came with the 40mm summicron-c.
the weird thread makes it difficult i'd rather like a snap-on hood of another lens.
I'm looking for advice.
I already thought about merging a cheap chinese hood with the thread of the original rubber hood. A snap/push-on would be nicer since i use 39mm filters on the lens.
I really like the lens for it's size, but i live in the constant fear of ruining my 39mm filters or worse the thread of the cron.
also were does one get filters that work with the original hood?

I finally got the series 5.5 to 39mm adapter and hood from a bay'er named HeavyStar. It works out just fine, but now it sticks out a little bit further.

Once in a while someone is posting up lots of 5.5 drop in filters which work with the hood
Link below to a completed auction and not very expensive for the number of filters (cut and paste if needed)

I would buy a damaged Summicron hood, cut away the rubber and then find a hood that could be bonded to the leftover ring. Then the hood and drop in filter can then be screwed onto the lens as needed

oh my .. I wish I would have won this auction.
actually all I need is a KR1.5, a yellow and a dark red or red filter.
the 12504 hood would allow me to use series 7 filters - although those are quite rare too

Hi. I just bought the 40mm Summicron and 90mm elmar-c. Both use series 5 filters. Heliopan can do series 5 as special orders. I have ordered 2 x UV and 1 x yellow. Contact ben@eventcameras.com to order. My first 2 should arrive in a couple of weeks. Another UV is on order
