Just wondering what people in the forum like for a pocket digital besides the Ricoh offerings. I've had a GRD and currently have an GX100 and while they are very well made cameras and have great interfaces, I'm a bit disappointed in the image quality. Specifically in the noisiness and the tonality. While it sometimes has a film like look, a lot of times it's just noise that makes the photos appear less sharp.
Are there any other small digitals that produce organic film like images (as opposed to the plasticy images common with genre) with a bit more crispness and less grain (and at a more reasonable price)? Something small, easy to use and preferably 35mm or wider on the wide end. Long end isn't important nor really is much manual control. The digital Yashica T4 would be my ideal. Absolutely fantastic lens, durable, small and the lack of user control not such a detriment. No need for tons of megapixels just good quality ones.

I use the Pany LX-2. Shoots RAW. Allows me to clean up if needed, but I don't think it is any better that the Ricoh's in the noise dept.

Yeah, our time has not yet come.
I still shoot a Lumix Lx1 as my digi point and shoot - but I feel towards it bout the same as you do towards the gx100. And i'm stuck at ISO80-100 bc of noise. Yes its a good cam and yes I shoot raw. Used these are a bargain for someone with nothing in this small sensor category.
I mostly carry an Olympus XA with ISO 400 slide film or BW for these purposes.

I've had the Leica D-LUX 3 but then got the Fuji Finepix F31fd and have never looked back. Probably the best low-light P&S out there, IMHO.

I use a Panasonic TZ3. I bought it mainly for the lens - DC Vario-Elmar 4.6 - 46mm (28 - 280 mm equivalent). No discernable distortion and an optical stabalizer that really works well. Excellent result at ISO 100 and 200.
