Amedeo Contax-Leica adapter: first impressions

Hi, I was wondering whether anyone have tried the contax-M Mount adapter that is sold from a seller from Hongkong in evil bay? How's the build quality and focus?

Amedeo's actually appear to be cheaper than the new ones, too--you really can't go wrong with him. I continue to have great satisfaction using mine.

Y'all are killing me! I'm waiting patiently for my Amedeo Nikon/Contax to Lumix G1 adapter as we speak... Can't wait to try all my old beloved rf lenses on it!

I have been using Contax RF to Leica M adapters made from cannibalized FSU mounts. I bought an Amedeo Nikon RF adapter and the Amedeo adapter is so much more impressive. There is just one complaint: why not make the adapter focus the Leica way if you are going make one from the ground up? Is there some design constraint to these lenses Mr Amedeo can't make the helicoil go the other way?

Just to say that my M8 is almost permanently wedded to my Helios or ex-Brian Sweeney J3 / Sonnar [ Jonnar ? ] hybrid , having miss-laid my prewar collapsible Sonnar [ how on earth did I lose that ? ] the odd J8 / J8m gets a look in sometimes .
The great thing about the Aamdeo mount is that Kiev lenses seem more solid than the screw J8s and the focusing is through the mount which creates a quality feel in the cheapest USSR lenses .
I am more than content with just the nom 67mm crop factor on emMa8 , so it could well be a fixed lens camera ... but the Summitar and CV 35 f2.5 also get some attention .

I agree 100%. His new design is so nice. I have two adapters now and intend to buy the Contax>M soon. I wouldn't buy any other for the price.

Hiya as an ignorant RF newbie but v curious re the adaptors available can you use Contax G series lenses on Leica m camera with this adaptor? I'm not clear....

No. This is about the classic Contax rangefinder lenses, not the Contax G lenses.

There are companies in Japan such as MS Optical that will (permanently) modify Contax G lenses for Leica M mount. Contact Japan Exposures for more info (Dirk also reads here if I remember correctly).
