Amedeo Contax-Leica adapter: first impressions

LTM adapter

LTM adapter

Hello,
The LTM adapter will take internal and external lenses, will be rangefinder coupled at all distances and will work as the M mount but without the 6 bit code of course.

Th adapters display the 50mm frame in the finder. May be, some day I will dedicate some time for to design selectable framefinder on the adapter.

Regards,
Amedeo.

I guess if you take a Contax-LTM adapter you can put an LTM-M adapter on it to bring up whichever M frame lines you like, right?

Hi Amedeo, I am interested in using the 35/2.8 & 21/4.5 on m-mount. I understand that both of the 2 lens have huge protruding rear elements. How would it affect focusing & the light meter?

Do you make Contarex to M-mount adapter too? Thanks. Pann.

Hello,
The Leica M bodies with lightmeters can´t receive the rear part of the Biogon's and Planar lenses, but I have a special adapter for wideangle lenses and can be used on Leica M1, M2, M3 and M4 bodies. Please go to www.ebay.com and look the auction number 130325608926 where you can have detailed explanation about this adapter and how work.
Regards,
Amedeo.

I recently received one each of the Nikon and Contax adapters. I am still testing them out, but initial impressions are that they work great. Lenses are:

Nikon 50/1.4
Nikon Millennium 50/1.4
C/V 50/3.5 Heliar-S
Contax 50/1.5 Opton
Contax 50/2 Sonnar
Helios 53/1.8

Initial focus tests wide open and close up have been spot on. Have not tested at infinity. Amadeo was pleasant to deal with and his products are beautifully made.

Thank you for the elaborated explanation, Amedeo. Is it technically possible to file the rear part of the 35mm & 21 mm so as to make them fit using the regular adapter?

I am still interested to see if you happens to make contarex to M-mount adapter as well.

Pann.

Hello Pann,
I have desited of try to mount these wideangle lenses on a M8, even on a M3 or M4 you must remove parts of the lens and that not is the idea. I am sad too, would be great to use a Biogon 21 on a m8.

Amedeo.

Amedeo, I have a weird idea.

Would it be possibly more economical and technically easier to remount the G lens to old Contax/nikon mount, and then use it with Contax/nikon>Leica M adapter?

It's great to see new products come out for our old gear and the maker here on RFF. Amedeo--many thanks for your fine work and participation on RFF!

BTW--waiting for the LTM adapters.

I understand Nikon and Contax RF are not compatible as far as I have read in Cameraquest. But that shouldn't matter as far as the adapter is concerned when used on a G1 or E-P1 since you are focusing TTL? I assume the adapter can focus to infinity whether a Nikonr or Contax lens is mounted?

For fun, I thought about getting a rangefinder arm and modifying it so that a 35mm f1.8 would fit. If the cam that makes contact with the lens was a millimeter or so thinner, it would fit when using one of Amedeo's adapters.

I've been happy with one of Amedeo's adapters and a 50mm Millenium. Sold my 50mm asph.

I am not sure about the question, but I guess you are talking about the lenses of the Contax G.
Technically was not possible a adapter for Contax G to Leica M, may be changing the G mount of the lens and adding a M mount, but the lack of focusing ring make it not easy to do. Anyway, I have several G lenses than could try to modify but is a project for the end of the year.
Regards,
Amedeo.

Amedeo, out of curiosity, have you tried the Nikkor 35mm f/2.5 "C" with either adapter? if it fits, I'm considering using it with my Contax adapter, since the focus differences should be minimal.
