Well, well, well. Looks like quite the find here, lol. I'm sure some fun discussion can be had.

I wonder why she didn't take it with her on her flight around the world.

When I want things to end up in museums I usually put them on eBay for £50,000 too. I would never contact a museum or two.

I wish it were true and it may very well be true but provenance such as this is so hard to prove.
At that price provenance would have to be 100% concrete.
Like the idea though...fiddly to load? Surely our Amelia would be made of sterner stuff!

Haha, good one. Maybe she had many Leicas ... like many of us here past and present.

Cuz she knew how it would end up. Wanted it to be kept in safe hands, lol.

In 2017, McTear's Auctioneers *expected to reach between £10,000 and £15,000*, and didn't succeed, now Mr Wullie Macdonald's grandson Ian thinks he'll get £ 50,000...

The story could be genuine, but I'm guessing grampa told a whopper.

Shouldn't Amelia Earharts' Leica look like this?

A CLA will sort that!

The Kodak Duo 620 is pretty but, in my limited experience, the Kodak Anastigmat lens is a bit of a contrast-free zone. Oddly, I have only ever seen two of these, and when I saw the second I had the first in my pocket with a film in!

In related news, I am selling an Olympus Stylus owned by Jesus.
(I bought it from him at the Pasadena City College flea market).

I like to own Picasso's Fed 2 camera.
That would take some fine Cubist portraits in my opinion, may be even a few Blue Period ones too.

It was at Leica NJ "waiting for parts".
