An attempt to raise money via a calendar

Jorge, I'm new here but your calendar seems like a good idea. I Think that a 52 week or a 365 day calendar would be an imposing task for a first project. Our Camera Club (Columbia Camera Club, SC) did that a coupleof years ago, using photos submitted by the members and It looked very good. They posted it on the club site for members to d/l and print. This was a 12 month calendar. I can't imagine any home wanting a 355 page calendar to hang on a wall or even a 52 pager. Everyone I know has a 12 month calendar and I have a signed copy of W. Eugens Smith's Calendar, 12 beautiful B&W photos. I think quality is better than quantity any day. 😀

How about a special gallery and each of us can submit 1 or 2 photos with no ID on them and after all are in, everyone vote for 4 photos, then use the top 12 photos. I think you could sell a bunch of the calendars on line as a download and let each print his own. Then you can print up some to sell by other means, maybe Ebay if anyone has a place there.

Any how, Jorge, I'm in for whatever I can do. BTW I prefer the idea of buying Calendars or whatever to paying dues.

Great idea. Count me in for now (first need to read the fine print on the "contract").

I like it! I'd like to have the chance to submit and to purchase a calendar.

I really like the tear off 6x4 option per week- imagine being able to send a snail-mail postcard - and it has that old technology feel that gels with the idea of rangefinders. 😎

And how nice would it be to get a postcard or two from other RFF friends on our birthdays for example? 😀

How about making a calendar with 12 best photos from the recent contest?

I doubt that I have any calendar worthy photos, but I'll be happy to contribute as well.

I have this gear-head side to me (that many of us have, I think) that would cause me to enjoy a calendar of pictures OF classic RF cameras (as well as the already mentioned idea of photos taken with RF cameras.)

Frank is on to something...recently, I spent a few overwhelming minutes at Cameraquest looking at the 'new' Nikon SP. A calendar with pictures of cameras I can't afford might be irresistable.

Yeah I'm in (what was the question again? 😀). I do like Frank’s idea of camera pictures. I'd be keen to buy a calendar of lush looking Soviet RF's (hint hint).

Thus, In an effort to raise some money, I would love to have an RFF calendar published which can be sold for a minimal price to help support the forum. Obviously the photos would need to come from members who would not have a problem allowing the use of their photograph in the calendar. Does this sound like a good idea to you? Please provide some feedback.

That depends... is LULU going to print it?

I'm in but lean more to the landscape/cityscape thing than the cameras. I think it should be open to more than the "12" finalists. if you like their work buy a print.

There are plenty of photographs of Leicas if that's what you like.

I'd rather see original photographs taken with rangefinder cameras.

I like my calendar with exotic motorcycles, and I enjoy riding my own. Is that so bad?

well, he said, HE would rather enjoy, Frank.
OTOH, the motorcycles thing is a different story since riding the motorcycle cannot result in a calendar while using a camera can.
How about a doublesided calendar, one side cameras other side images.
Then we can switch when we feel more like camera fondlers🙂
