So I've been hearing that CV has some slight quality control problems, but I got me a few lenses and a R2M anyways. Three of the lenses was all fine and dandy, the rangefinder was slightly off, but easily adjusted.

The Nokton 50/1.1 that I've been yearning for however did not meet up to standards.

The images from the first test roll are tack sharp and in focus. The lens handles like a dream, I very much enjoy shooting with it, it's certainly my favourite lens ever - tons more fun than the schizophrenic Canon EF 1.2L.

Theres one problem tough, the focus ring is not tight against the mount base, and when I walk around this causes the lubrication to get squeezed out through the screw holes in the base.
Never heard of a lens pushing out lube like this before, so I tought I'd share.

I sent a quick email to Voigtländer, but they just told me to talk to the seller, so I'll have to trust that Stephen pulls through when he wakes up on the other side of the pond :)

Anyone else had troubles with this lens? Did it work out for you?

I never had that issue. In the beginnig the focussing on mine was not very smooth, as if some grinding material was still on the threads. Now it is almost completely smooth.

Erik.

Well yeah, the lube isn't very much of a problem, what worries me is the "play" between the focus ring and the base mount. I kind of expected that a lens for us$ 1K would be rock solid.

You think I should wait and see before claiming warranty?

My copy has a smooth focusing ring and pretty good build quality as well. I'd also suggest returning it, as that doesn't fit my experience or those of fellow owners.
