Interesting read Dino, thank you 😀 the fellow writer, however, made a funny double mistake:

(Five and a half thousand will buy you a 50-mm. f/1, the widest lens on the market; for anybody wanting to shoot pictures by candlelight, there’s your answer.)

Surely he meant fastest, not widest 😉 and he forgot the Canon 50 mm f0.95...

For what I know, the fastest lens ever produced is a Rodenstock TV Heligon 50mm f/0.75, even if I'm not sure if it fits SLRs or RFs..., I found it both on them..
