Another one made with your new camera - very nice b&w right out of camera:

They should release both a R4-D2 for wide angles and R3-D2 as the R-D1 successor with the 1:1 viewfinder. And the R2-D2 for Star Wars nuts. The R4* was a ground breaking design IMO and Cosina were very proud of it when they released it!

I miss mine a lot; if I'd had the cash at the time and you hadn't beat me to it, I'd have bought it. They're actually pretty expensive used compared to the X100 - but you have some security, in that third party repairers can fix shutter problems.
I sold mine because I needed more WA lenses for it to work - and ended up getting a GF1. I wish I still had the Epson!

I am seriously thinking of another RD-1 as a backup
So.... I can only "wish" for this "RD-2" to materialize......

Glad to see you excited about the camera Keith. I'm looking forward to seeing your photos with it when it gets to you.
I have always envied you that 15mm lens and the shots you got with it. Some day I hope to get one myself in a Contax mount.

Once I have a R-D1, then sold it & got myself a M8.
Now I have sold my M8, wanted to try out the NEX 7 or Xpro1.
But after reading this, I find myself missing the R-D1
It's been a great camera to me as well, I hope I could find one at a reasonable price
to stop me from thinking of other cameras.

That's bizarre!
Meanwhile mine languishes in Oz customs where it's been sitting for two days awaiting clearance according to the tracking info! The last EMS package I had sent was my F6 which took weeks to get to me ... I really don't want a repeat of that ... my nerves couldn't take it.
I was hoping to get the RD-1 by Easter ... but at this stage that looks unlikely!

You'll love your 15mm on the R-D1. There's some pretty bad vignetting, but it was still one of my most used lenses with that camera.

i personally prefer the 12 on the r-d1: much less vignetting and it's a tad wider than a 21mm (18mm equivalent), it's a very useful focal length, being 5.6 wont matter much, just shoot at 1600 or 800 and 1/4 or 1/2 and you're good to go on night street lights. it opens a whole new perspective (i'm biased though, i love ultrawides...)
