Checking the time stamp of rover's first message and the timestamp of my "sent" email, i guess i was between the first ones😀
I came right back from some beer swallowing activity last night when i have seen the thread, and was not sure today if i really did send a mail. Huh!

And hopefully you'll find some photographs taken with a rangefinder yesterday evening, that you can't remember you've photographed and send them in for the new book 😛

Hey Rover, would it be possible for you to maybe post one concise message, preferably in a new (locked?) thread, that summarizes all of the requirements and guidelines for submission?

This thread is now 5 pages long and getting some of the answers is kind of challenging even though everything has probably been discussed.

Thanks. 🙂

This would be a good idea.. specially if there is a 3rd book in about a year or two 🙂

Einars made a very good offer a couple of pages back that I would like to replicate which is to offer a scanning service to those members who don't have a scanner. I had to get my two negs scanned for the first book and I had it done at a professional imaging place and it cost $$.

So when my Konica-Minolta SD IV comes back from the repair shop I'll be happy to scan for any of you guys in the book project who don't have access to a scanner. 🙂

Too late?

One of the first things we talked about when putting this project together is that we wanted it to be inclusive not exclusive. We are a much bigger community today than we were when the first book was put together so we knew that 25 was not the correct number of participants this time around.

50 isn't either.

So, for everyone who has replied, we are going to make it work. Everyone is in. We will have to shut the door soon, but if you have expressed interest, you are in.

More info will follow.

I'm really glad to hear that, rover... and I think it will make the end result much better.. sort of a photo documentation of the whole RFF community all in one shot

I've got a Dual Scan IV and I can help with scanning as well.
and I've got a Nikon Coolscan V.. it scans at 4000dpi and has ICE (which really does help)... I'm more than willing to lend my services.. either for scanning or layout.. I'm even somewhat qualified, since I've been a full-time graphic designer for 15 years

Wow is all I can say. We have had a great response and I am sure we are at the starting point of a great project.

That being said, we are about 24 hours since I announced our intentions, and at this point I must say that we cannot accept any additional participants as our goal is much loftier now than it was a day ago. Simply stated, to continue accepting participants will jeopardize our ability to deliver the final product for you. I apologize to all who are not able to join us today, but look forward to your participation in book 3.

What do we have? Well, about 105 great photographers. Gene and I are following up with PMs and emails to a couple members who have already expressed interest which will get us to this number. Those of you who have gotten these messages please confirm your interest as soon as possible.

Right now I am in the process of copying all the info off your emails down, and will be building a spreadsheet so that we can track everyone's progress. This will hopefully be done this weekend.

We will also provide some additional/specific information to you regarding what you need to provide us. Just give me a little time to get my mind set on what that is and keep your eyes open for this info.

Ok, it looks like step one is done. Get ready for the next leap!!!

rover... what's the optimistic timeframe for collecting all the photos? are you hoping to have them within a month, or what? I just want to know so I can figure out how frantically I need to start shooting film in order to get one good shot 🙂

You can always use an existing shot, no requirement that your images be new, just taken with a RF camera.

Gene and Ray are going to be doing all the layout work and they are discussing what they think the time they need to pull things together is. This is bigger than we thought yesterday so the math is harder 😀. Count on having your images submitted before the end of this year, the sooner the better, and we will be more specific as soon as we can.

Santo cielo! 105? 😱 What coffee do you drink? Let's buy some of that stock...

Motion for us to send a print (one, we don't want his place to become a museum) to Rover, which will then distribute between the others. The least we can do for the gargantuan task that lies ahead.

If you need help, Rover, let me know.
