Einars made a very good offer a couple of pages back that I would like to replicate which is to offer a scanning service to those members who don't have a scanner. I had to get my two negs scanned for the first book and I had it done at a professional imaging place and it cost $$.

So when my Konica-Minolta SD IV comes back from the repair shop I'll be happy to scan for any of you guys in the book project who don't have access to a scanner. 🙂

I'd happily do the same, but I doubt many will want to send their negs to Brazil! 😀

Don't asssume that John! In the first book we had at least one person from South America (Colombia) maybe two. So you may get some business... 😉

hmmm, Im not sure if many of our members check the forums every day so 24 hours might be a bit too quick to close it. You might have 100+ photags for now, but we shall see how many actually submit something and how many of the pictures are 'actually good' (thought I dont know how this is going to be determined, I do think the quality of the pictures matters when it comes to putting a book together).

Just my idea...

There will probably be some attrition. As far as quality, everyone should clean/spot their images as Rover suggested. 🙂

🙂

As in the first book, this is your (meaning all the participants') project. That means that what each one of you want in the book will be published. So no photographs will be edited out. Well, we probably will have to keep gross stuff, nudes and really offensive things out, but surely that will not be an issue.

Oh, and yes, there will be attrition, that is just part of the process, but we are already talking about a book in excess of 400 pages, so a few less may actually be a good thing.

Rover, you are talking about a book that will cost about $65 + s/h.

Perhaps, but think of this - we can get all of our friends and relatives to buy it. And with that enormous amount of capital we can buy a film manufacturer and ensure a future for "real" photography and, and, and - - oh, oh - time for the meds.... 😎

I guess what I am saying is that I just want a book that will feature good photos taken by RFF members and not just a book of photos taken by RFF members.

Looks like I'm a day late and a dollar short. This is what I get for going out and having a little fun 🙂

I'll try to be a little faster for book 3 🙂

I thought this was a "nonprofit" project. I still get a "syntax error" when I read that part...

lol -- AH! Now I see what you meant. Changes it completely. Yes, I agree with you.

Like Rover said, what we choose, it will be in (within the boundaries of Common Sense, if Common Sense allows it, I hope); I think it would be a great show of collective collaboration (not a redundant redundancy here) if we strive to do our own share and indeed meet that challenge personally, to submit two of our own best, not "just two" pictures because we want our name in a book.

Utopias are great in textbooks, though. Can we meet this challenge?

But first and foremost it's our love of photography, and our love of this type of photo gear that has brought us together. Let that joy be a guide.
