Announcing the RFF Book 2 Project!!!!

I think somewhere along the line my post was misinterpreted. My point was, based on LULU's pricing scheme, a 400 page book as Rover estimates will likely cost around $65 TO PRODUCE. Add to that the shipping and handling cost, and we're talking about a pretty expensive photo book.

If there are 105 photographers, perhaps one photo each would be enough? Just my two cents.

Ray: I think The Big Four (you) should ponder it amongst you; you're going to get a mini-chaos getting input from the rest of us in that matter.

Work out the kinks, the wrinkles. The rules were amended once, I think you may need to amend them again.

Just a couple days of not logging in and his happens! I want to join if it is not too late! 😛

Sounds like a reasonable option to me.

I'm having trouble enough picking one of my photos let alone two since a lot of the photos I'd desperately love to show off weren't taken with rangefinders... :bang:.

If it comes to a choice between having to cut people who want to participate or restrict those participating to one photo in order to keep the production costs and sales price reasonable, one photo each seems a reasonable compromise to me.

Rover, you are talking about a book that will cost about $65 + s/h.

I may have spoken in error...... We are still working on some details. The important thing as I see it is that we will have a large representation of our members, and show our diversity.

I am getting my math wrong, 400 is a lot of pages, we will be less than that.

I guess what I am saying is that I just want a book that will feature good photos taken by RFF members and not just a book of photos taken by RFF members.

#edited

I am confident that we will have a great book containing great photography.

WHAT!
Ya' mean Book 2 is for profit? We Book 1 guys sold them at cost, so everyone could afford a copy. Pass me some them meds, ahhh , thx. 😛

NO PROFIT. Do you think I want to be the one who has to figure out how to distribute funds amongst us all. Mama didn't raise no fool. 😎

Honestly, I don't know that there is anyway that we can easily distribute royalties, so the best thing to do is to not have any.

We are doing this for fun and the feeling of accomplishment.

And, nwcanonman is right, lets keep the cost of the book as low as possible.

Like Rover said, what we choose, it will be in (within the boundaries of Common Sense, if Common Sense allows it, I hope); I think it would be a great show of collective collaboration (not a redundant redundancy here) if we strive to do our own share and indeed meet that challenge personally, to submit two of our own best, not "just two" pictures because we want our name in a book.

Utopias are great in textbooks, though. Can we meet this challenge?

But first and foremost it's our love of photography, and our love of this type of photo gear that has brought us together. Let that joy be a guide.

Very well said.

I will be the first to tell you that I have zero artistic talent (not a whole lot of grace or dexterity either), but hold yourself to a high standard, and show that with images that have great meaning to you, and you will find something special. I know we will have great quality in this book.

ray is right, I was wrong. We will produce a book that cost less than $65.

Thank you, we are trying our best to do what is best for everyone, honestly. The hardest part right now is that two days ago we said, "Let's do Book 2" and a day ago we said, "This is such a good idea, we want to include as many people as we can," now we are trying to pull those two things together.

I just have to ask for your patients and understanding, we will get this done right.

I'm just heckling with the rest 😉

NO HECKLING!!!! 😀

I will have to just not go to sleep tonight if you guys insist on heckling over my night. Consider how grumpy I am going to be tonight online since it is still before 5am for me now. (insert stick out his tongue smiley here)

Did I mention that one of the main goals of this project was to have fun? 😉
