yeah, i saw that in a thread here today...like being an amateur is a bad thing!!

anyway, i have been thinking about camera leather covers for the rd1 and i'm leaning toward bright red for one and a more subtle granite for the other.

plus, the second one that is coming in from norway has been recovered with a brown buffalo leather and from the pics i don't find it all that attractive.

The rubber on the R-D1 is not really to everyone's liking. But the bump on the back does give a good grip. I have been fondling and walking about with the camera in Zhao case today and like it even more than yesterday. The bump is no problem anymore to fit in the case. The case folds around like a glove. I don't think I will take the rubber off, having the case.
That said, a red colour would be very sexy! I already have some burgundy red stingray. Maybe I will fit that on the CLE.

I like red too, always have. But not on cameras! Check out the March 19, 2008 post at http://thepriceofsilver.blogspot.com for a photo of what DOES look good in red. I'd much prefer to fondle one of those than a red RD1 any day!

Hi Joe,
that brown leather shows you have to take great care to get a smooth surface before applying the leather.
I am curious what you think of the lack of grip-bump at the back, if the rubber is removed. Handling your two cameras can give a good grip comparison.
